Word of Caterina's clash with Lady Elena reached Joanna's ears, and no doubt Elisabeta's as well. Aware that both of her elder sisters had met with their brother's betrothed, as well as the efforts put forth by Allegra, Joanna hoped to catch the two for an overdue discussion on the matter. Niccolo had made his expectations of them where Elena was concerned abundantly clear, yet it seemed that there was a fresh air of tension lying over Drakespire that the Dove did not like. Joanna preferred peace in all aspects of life within her family and hoped to smooth things over.
Sending notes to her sisters to request their presences in the morning after breakfast, Joanna waited for them in their favorite salon, a cheerful room in decorated in sunny yellows, creamy ivory and touches of green. The Daffodil room, she had christened it as a child, a place where the ladies of the family often could gather to spend time together. Her mother had taught her the skills of a needlewoman in that room, where they'd talked for hours, sung and enjoyed each other's company. Her sisters had often joined them, though with their father's increasing infirmity, those times were placed on hold.
Anxious and unable to sit, she roamed the room, opening the windows wide to a glorious early summer morning. Sunshine made the room all the more bright and cheerful, speaking to Joanna's restless soul. Pausing in a pool of the warm light, she sighed and let it pour over her like a healing balm. She disliked confrontation, but hoped that she could bring her sisters into accord. What was done was done, and it could not be undone.
