How long had it been since they'd last held a proper Harvest Festival in Bordelaix? In thinking about it, Nicolette was fairly sure it had been close to a decade, just after her mother died. That made today's People's Feast long overdue, as far as she was concerned. It was important to her that one of her very first events as Crown Princess was to revive the Harvest Festival and with it, the feast that welcomed everyone, be they noble or common, to join together, share food, drink, and conversation, and enjoy what made Archades solid.
Nicolette was definitely looking forward to the feast, welcoming the chance to be among the people as one of them. She refused to wear anything formal or elaborate, preferring to be approachable and just... normal. No silk, no velvet, no gold or gems today, she decided. Instead, she opted for a blue linen dress trimmed in darker blue, her hair drawn back simply from her face, and sturdy shoes that could handle walking and all the day might call for from her. Even the signet ring was removed and placed somewhere safe for the day; she wanted nothing that put her far above the people with whom she'd interact that day.
Picking up the two baskets she'd had filled with small gifts, sweets and other tokens that she could give out liberally, Nicolette headed out to walk down into the square where the feast was to be held. She wanted to take the time to walk through the festival market as well, trusting that at least one of her sisters might see fit to join her today. Her face alight with anticipation, the Crown Princess gave way to Nicolette, the young woman.
