Royal gowns were truly impressive feats. Yes, while it was true that Nicolette Deveraux was not a woman to dress ostentatiously, she was nonetheless going to be Crown Princess of the realm. She was to be the heir to the highest seat in the nature. In Carlotta’s firm opinion, that meant the woman would have to dress the part. As such, as soon as Nicolette had informed her of her father’s intended plans, Carlotta immediately went to work at designing gowns for the role.
The goal was not to be overbearing, but to appear regal and commanding at the same time. Indeed, Carlotta intended for this gowns to transfer easily when Nicolette assumed the ultimate burden of the crown and throne. To design the dresses for the future queen seemed almost like a dream!
The designs for the dresses were kept safely within a leather-bound portfolio. Carlotta had come upon a rather clever idea for the designs, actually and she was quietly proud of them. Several dresses had been designed, each one lending its qualities to each of the duchies and realms of the land. Everything from the harsh mountains of Vasile to the lush Eden of Shelbourne to the vast sands of Desmeria were considered. Yet, in each, there was a touch of the Deveraux and Feaucheux. The idea was to convey that every region was important to and a part of the royal family.
With the portfolio tucked under her arm, the lady ventured into the chambers assigned to Nicolette. She made certain the breakfast being set up was exactly to her liking, and that all matters were in order when she emerged from her morning bath.
