In a matter of weeks, the city of Bordelaix - nay, the entire Kingdom - stood poised on the knife's edge of change. So much occurred within a brief time that if she hadn't been made aware of it, her head might well have spun to the point of dizziness. Fortunately for Angelia Sandoval, she was prepared for some few of the surprises that came down, leaving her able to handle them with adroit calm. Now more than ever, she needed to be steady, to be prepared, to stand as the eye of calm in an ever-growing storm beginning to rage around them.
The family's careful laid plans were gradually coming to fruition, some with more success than others, but each timed in a manner to deflect suspicion from hands other than Fate's bringing them to be. Despite that, Angelia could not divert the sensation that there were unexpected events brewing in the wind. She could not explain why, or what prompted the feeling, only that they needed to brace themselves for the unexpected and unknown. Standing by the window as the first cold, slashing rain of the season beat down on Bordelaix, she sipped a glass of wine, waiting for her twin to join her.
They'd had precious little opportunity to speak in the past few days between the Masque, the murder, and the subsequent influx of information, gossip, and investigators. Angelia was mildly amused when questions were posed of the Sandovals in accordance with Stephane's death; she'd anticipated no less under the circumstances. Wisely, the movements of the family were completely accounted for during the hour where the man met his end, dispelling any suspicion that the rivalry contributed to the murder. The thought nearly brought a smile to her face, save that a man - however odious and ill-mannered - was dead. A life was a terrible thing to waste.
Silently saluting the late Prince's passing with her glass, she finally smiled as lightning forked across the sky, a low rumble accompanying the bright sear. It seemed almost... symbolic to her.
