There were many things that Lord Riccardo enjoyed. He was not, by his mind, a difficult man to please, and strived to keep it that way. He liked simple things, learned to enjoy them with sincerity so that should he be met with worse fates than where his life currently lay, he would not be unhappy with his luck. He also seemed to have adopted things that were less common among men of nobility, or rather have particularly disliked those things that were average; things such as sword fighting, war stratagem, vying for power, growing money, collecting faux-friends and too many enemies. Thankfully, he was liked enough by the people he kept company with, whether noble or common of birth, so that rarely was he ever told he was “different” in any negative way.
While at the capital, he had ample opportunity to indulge in many luxuries. He could easily find himself dining with the most reputable of company, with decadent menus and more hired help than one could manage to keep busy. He could spend all his money in a gamble, or a party to hunt, men with whom to drink the night into oblivion, or women hired to keep him happy in his bed chamber. There were moments where some of these things held appeal, but for the most part it did not. There wasn’t a charm for him in this place, it did not give him excited feelings, though neither did he find it a bad place. It was simply that Riccardo enjoyed home and how it worked, and that was all he needed.
Something he did want to take advantage of, however, was the diversity of the arts strewn about the world. He enjoyed how they made him think, or not think if that was what he needed. Given he had no artistic talent himself, it was perhaps not surprising that he enjoyed and appreciated when it was well done by others. While he did not think he’d explore the entire vastness of their planet, he did think it wise to take the opportunity to at least indulge in the products of Faucheux. Specifically for that day, he had planned to see a piece of theater art, a comedy that promised one too many laughs. He’d offered to his family to join him if they wished, and now seated he awaited for the room to fill before the entertainment would begin.
