Day one of the ride had seen Aemrys a little isolated from the group. This had not been an entirely unintentional thing, but more factually he had become distracted with his thoughts of Regan. He had seen Finn speaking to her, in close quarters and something about him boiled with an intense jealousy. It was as if, the moment these things became forbidden, his feeling for her had escalated out of control. And he disliked that on so many fettering levels. Rys was a man who often oozed inner calm, he was often so peaceful and so level headed that recent events had brought a temper to him and a teenage stubbornness that was most short sighted. He knew this, he could see it happening and it was one of the reasons he rode a little ahead of the rest of the convoy for most of the day.
Finally, as dusk settled in it was made wise to stop and take rest. While he had no objection Rys had excused himself almost instantly. He had walked with Ceri long into the night, and had taken himself to bed without much more than a crust for his supper. Truthfully, the better he avoided these issues the more he hoped his temper would become cooled.
Day two saw a bright and brisk dawn, the sky was still smattered with shots of oranges when Rys awoke. He rose from the linen of his bedding and threw on the pants and tunic made dusty and travel worn from the day previous. With all intention to take himself off with his dog once more before breakfast, he set out into the open air and stood momentarily... sure, the wolfhound needed to stretch his legs but Rys stood in the winter sun and closed his eyes. The inhale that barrelled his chest was deep and wholesome, and his lungs stung with the freshness of the air. If there was one thing he would not miss about Bordelaix it would be the humid, suffocating air that set about the furious people. He savoured the breath, clinging to it for several moments longer before letting it out in a deep and careful sigh.
Blue eyes opened finally, and glanced around. It was still early, he had no real expectation of anyone being disturbed from sleep yet. Then, with a low and casual whistle, he called Ceri to his side. A walk was the perfect part of his morning routine, Rys had never managed to be still for long…
