The capital of Archades had such an abundance of potential experiences that Nicholas had scarcely knew where to begin. Though, that hesitance didn’t last very long. The first thing he decided to try was the local cuisine. It was rich and very different from Montenoire, and he made a note to obtain some of the recipes to bring home. Perhaps old Henri would be happy to have some dishes that he might have forgotten. The drink was also quite good, but he was most interested in the wine. How did these wines of Terre Verde match to his own family’s?
The verdict was still out. He’d have to get Kathryn’s thoughts on that one.
The next experience for the dear Rogue of Montenoire was the general scenery and getting familiar with the city. The architecture was, admittedly, quite beautiful. The sweeping arches, the tasteful colors and the accessories such as banners, statues and plates were all quite artful. Indeed, he had spent the better part of a week just strolling through the streets.
Then came the women. Ah, the women. The court was in full swing by now, which meant women from all over the country were attendance. Some were putting themselves on display, some tastefully so and others… not so much, but pleasant all the same. Indeed, on that particular day, he had encountered the daughter of a particularly wealthy merchant. Gold of hair, blue of eye, and plenty ample of Lindblumen bosom was she. While she appreciated Nicholas’s affectations and sweet words, the young lady’s father most assuredly did not. Indeed, so irate with Nicholas was he that the Rogue had to beat a rather hasty retreat.
“Come back and face me, you cur!” The man bellowed over the sound of hoots thunderously clattering on the cobblestones of the city streets.
“I’d rather not, thanks!” Nicholas shouted back. Besides, he was more focused on looking for a way to evade him. That was when he spotted her. The Lovely Lady Kattalin, and just as importantly, the pair of guards that were walking with her toward the marketplace. Yes. A plan was forming in his mind.
Kattalin was about to have a little adventure.
